Fiona James, a popular Filipina tiktoker from Dubai, has converted to Islam in the holy month of Ramadan.
According to foreign media reports, Fiona, who has around 0.8 million followers on the video sharing platform TikTok, changed her name to Zainab after converting to Islam at Dubai’s Islamic Information Center Satwa in the first week of Ramadan.
Zainab, a resident of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, moved to the United Arab Emirates 8 years ago and was always inspired by the call to prayer from mosques.
He says, ‘Actually, whenever I heard the call to prayer, I felt relieved. In fact, I even memorized parts of the call to prayer, which made me curious about religion.’
According to media reports, Zainab is currently taking online classes from the Islamic Information Center to learn about Islam and is also memorizing Quranic surahs, hoping to complete the course in a month.
Zainab further says that ‘My family is happy with this decision of mine and no one forced them to accept Islam, they have accepted Islam of their own free will and pleasure.
