In Ramanathapuram, a National Writer Award-winning teacher has been arrested by the CBI officials for allegedly conspiring to cheat the Income Tax Department.

The Central Government is announcing the selection of the deserving person nominated by the State Government for the National Good Writer Award by the Central Government. In that way, the Union Ministry of Education released the list of 46 recipients of the National Good Writer Award for the current year on 25th of last month.

Ramachandran, a primary school teacher of Ramanathapuram District Keezambal Panchayat Union Primary School from Tamil Nadu, was selected for the National Good Teacher Award and received the award by President Draupadi Murmu in Delhi on September 5 on Teacher’s Day.

His brother runs Panchacharam Tax Information Network in Madurai and Ramanathapuram. While doing Income Tax E file through this company, he has given money back to many people by giving less account.

Out of this, 2 crore 84 lakh was illegally returned to the customer and he received many lakhs of rupees as commission. CBI filed a case against Panchacharam in 2021 based on the complaint filed by the Income Tax department who discovered this and arrested Panchacharam in 2022 and sent him to court custody and later he came out on bail.

In this case, his brother Panchacharam has sent 12 lakhs from his bank account to the national award winning teacher Ramachandran. Also, an investigation was conducted at the CBI office in Madurai for more than 10 days regarding the unaccounted 12 lakh rupees credited to Ramachandran, the income tax department teacher, due to money transactions between the two.

Ramachandran who appeared for the investigation did not properly answer the questions and did not hand over the relevant documents for the 12 lakhs credited to the bank account, the CBI officers registered a case under Section 120(B) for collusion in the income tax department’s malpractices in refunding Ramachandran and arrested the teacher Ramachandran and kept him at the Madurai office for questioning. Steps are being taken to send him to judicial custody.
