Rami Malek was born in Torrence, California on May 12, 1981. His parents moved from Egypt in 1978 as his father, a travel agent and tour guide, was fascinated by the Western culture of American visitors. Very attached to their roots, his parents raise Malek according to Coptic Orthodox Christianity, making him also learn Arabic from the age of four.
