A crowd of a few hundred youths, including many minors, went on a rampage in the Charlesbourg area on Friday evening when police used pepper spray to disperse the crowd and ran over a youth riding a scooter with their car.
The Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ) was called several times throughout the evening to intervene in a case of disorder with a group of teenagers in the Patro de Charlesbourg area.
Due to the size of the crowd, the first officers on the scene requested assistance from other patrol officers. At about 8:47 p.m., two other patrol officers went to the scene and saw that a crowd of several hundred youths were drinking alcoholic beverages and throwing fireworks, while others were fighting.
To make the premises safe, police officers on site first arrested a person who was violating municipal bylaws.
“Then the mob of youth decided to surround the patrol vehicle. Insults and various objects will be thrown at this vehicle when patrol officers are inside it,” indicated SPVQ spokesman Pierre-Olivier Levesque.
Yet according to the SPVQ, one young man decided to confront the police directly by blocking the path of the patrol vehicle and even leaning his moped in front of the vehicle.

However, in several videos available on the network it is possible to see that patrol officers run towards the young man to such an extent that they knock him and his moped to death.
Subsequently, four police officers used force to subdue a 15-year-old boy, who was arrested for obstructing a peace officer, was released after a short time and returned to his parents. Returned home. Patrol officers also attacked several youths during the intervention.
The SPVQ made dozens of interventions throughout the evening regarding the gatherings, in addition to several citizen complaints. Ambulance personnel were also needed for cases of intoxication from drink and other substances.
