Poliakin was born in Jerusalem and studied for a bachelor’s degree in design at Bezalel. In 2007, he founded the Powermat company, which was a pioneer in wireless charging system technology for mobile phones. Polyakin served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors until December 2014. The company developed a wireless charging technology for smartphones in accordance with the standard initiated by PMA, which was adopted by global corporations including Durcell, General Motors, Flextronics and AT&T, and in 2014 completed a wide deployment of charging stations located in Starbucks branches in California and various entertainment spots in New York. In 2013, the company reached revenues at the rate of 200 million dollars per year.

Until the outbreak of his illness, Poliakin was at the head of a development center he established in Neve Ilan where ten startups operate, including Nano-X Imaging, which develops X-ray-based medical imaging equipment manufactured using a MEMS component. Her product only recently received marketing approval from the FDA. Other companies he founded include “Illumigyn”, a device to improve tests for cervical cancer detection, “Qinflow”, a device for heating blood transfusions and infusions in outdoor conditions and “Wellsense” – a pressure mapping system using wires which are woven into hospital mattresses and which reduces the risk of pressure sores when lying down for a long time, and many other companies.

In a farewell letter he wrote before he died, Polyakin wrote, among other things: “Dear friends and colleagues, there is a saying in different languages ​​that says that youth is wasted on the young. If only we could as children, know that what is important in life is what we did for our beloved people and what we did to make the world a better place …” At the end of his letter he wrote: “Don’t forget to besiege those around you. Don’t let objects or other meaningless things blind you. Create important and meaningful memories every day.” Of blessed memory!
