Ralph Rangnik (Reuters)
The surprising report published over the last day in the media in Austria, became official today (Friday). Ralph Rangnik has been appointed coach of the Austrian national team on a contract until 2024.
Despite this, Rangnick will still continue in parallel in his role at Manchester United. Remember, the current coach will move behind the scenes next season when brother Eric Tan arrives, and will serve as the Red Devils’ professional advisor. His contract in England is also until 2024.
Rangnick will actually replace Franco Fuda, who is well known to us due to the large number of games between Austria and Israel in recent years. The Austrians want to take a leap when it comes to the big competitions, and there is no doubt that they have brought a world-renowned figure, although he will be a big disappointment at United.
As you may recall, Poda resigned from his coaching job in Austria after losing to Wales last month in the World Cup promotion playoffs. Rangnick and United are unlikely to secure a place in the Champions League next season, and the 63-year-old German hopes that in the national team it will look different for him.
