Opener Sanath Sangwan’s composed innings of 83 runs helped Delhi prevent Tamil Nadu from registering victory in the Ranji Trophy Group D match here on Monday. Delhi started the morning’s first innings with 264 runs for eight wickets and lost the remaining two wickets by adding just two runs, leaving centurion Yash Dhull (105 not out) unbeaten at the other end. While playing follow on, Delhi lost the wicket of Dhull early on but Sangwan showed great spirit with the bat and scored a half-century with 12 fours in 231 balls.
He got good support from captain Himmat Singh (36 runs) and Jonty Sidhu (23 runs). Delhi drew the match on the last day by scoring 193 runs for eight wickets in 83 overs. Indian players Washington Sundar (three wickets for 45 runs), Sonu Yadav (two wickets for 37 runs) and Ajit Ram (two wickets for 52 runs) took wickets for Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu got three points from the match.
