At the Oscars, which took place on the night of Sunday to Monday in Los Angeles, actor John Cena ventured onto the stage (almost) completely naked – and became a topic of conversation. His new film is currently rocking the Prime Video charts.
Of course, everyone is talking about last night’s Oscar winners – from “Oppenheimer” to “Poor Things”, from Emma Stone to Cillian Murphy to Billie Eilish. But you didn’t even have to win a golden boy to get people talking. On the one hand, it was enough to be a cuddly dog, for example, or a completely naked presenter.

“Ricky Stanicky”: Popular, but not good
Whether the new film from “There’s Something About Mary” co-director Peter Farrelly is worth it despite its apparent popularity is a completely different matter. FILMSTARTS author Sidney only gave it 1.5 out of 5 possible stars in his review, with all of the film’s (few) positive points being attributed to the good-humored John Cena. Our review conclusion:
“John Cena once again does the jumping jacks with infectious joy. But it’s not (yet?) enough to be a solo entertainer that makes up for all the weaknesses in the script. Even for super fans of the Farelly classics like ‘Dumb and Dumber’, this is only a very limited viewing recommendation.”

In order to protect their constant fibs, they resort to an XXL lie – and are ultimately forced to hire an actor for the role of a fictional best friend: John Cena appears as the washed-up celebrity impersonator Rod, who soon finds himself in his new role as “Ricky Stanicky” feels all too comfortable…
