Following media reports of rape allegations against French football star Kylian Mbappe, the Swedish public prosecutor’s office has confirmed an investigation.
The public prosecutor’s office said yesterday that an investigation had begun, but did not name the suspect. Mbappe, 25, protested his innocence and announced legal action.

“Following media reports about an alleged rape in Stockholm, the prosecutor can confirm that the police have received a rape report,” the statement said. An investigation has begun.
The victim complained
The incident is said to have happened last week in a hotel in the center of the Swedish capital. As reported by “Aftonbladet”, the alleged victim filed a complaint on Sunday.
Mbappe’s lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, announced legal action. Her client did not want to allow himself to be “defamed and slandered in this way,” she told the AFP news agency. “That is why we will file a defamation lawsuit.” Mbappe was “surprised” that his name was being linked to the investigation in Sweden, Canu-Bernard said. However, he was “calm” because he had nothing to blame himself for.
