Two persons have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody on charges related to the gang rape of a ten-year-old girl.
The victim girl was admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and an examination conducted in the presence of a forensic medical expert confirmed that she was raped and the girl was intoxicated.
A complaint was lodged at the Achuveli police station on Sunday that a 15-year-old girl was forced to drink alcohol and gang-raped in the Achuveli area.
After registering a complaint, the police sent the girl along with her mother asking them to admit the victim to the hospital.
The girl was referred to a forensic specialist at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
His urine test confirmed the presence of alcohol concentration. It was also reported that he was subjected to violence.
Two persons aged 22 and 31 were arrested by the Achuveli police in connection with the incident. Both of them were arraigned in the Mallagam Magistrate’s Court.
The court ordered the remand of the suspects.
