Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs arrested in US

Sean “Diddy” Combsthe magnate of rap which has plummeted after a wave of lawsuits sex trafficking and assaultwas arrested in New York late Monday, a US federal court reported.

He District Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williamssaid in a statement that the arrest was the result of an indictment filed confidentially by his office.

“We expect to unseal the indictment in the morning and will say more at that time,” he said, without detailing the charges.

Combs, 54, is the subject of several civil lawsuits portraying him as a “sexual predator,” and his homes were raided by federal agents this year.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilosaid Combs had “voluntarily relocated” to New York in anticipation of the charges, and said he was “disappointed with the decision.”

The rapper, who produced stars like Usher o Mariah Careyfaces several civil lawsuits in which he is portrayed as a violent sexual predator who subdues his victims using drugs and alcohol.

In March, armed agents entered Combs’ luxurious properties in Miami y Los Angelesan operation that provided clues that there was an investigation against the rapper.

The artist, also known as Puff Daddy y P Diddywas widely recognized as a hip-hop pioneer, mogul and party animal; however, the lawsuits describe him as a violent man who used his fame to take advantage of women.

The rapper has denied any wrongdoing, and his legal team insisted Monday that Combs was “cooperating with this investigation” and “looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

At the end of last year, the singer Cassie She alleged that Combs subjected her to more than a decade of coercion through physical force and drugs, and to rape in 2018.

The lawsuit was settled out of court, but the allegations kept coming, including one in December from a woman who accused Sean “Diddy” Combs and other men of gang-raping her when she was 17 years old.
