MADRID, 31 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has reported that punctuality on the new high-speed line between Madrid and Badajoz, launched last July, has already reached 90%, after the first breakdowns and delays at its start-up.

In an appearance in the Congress of Deputies, the minister has admitted that these incidents were not “acceptable” and that they did not live up to the expectations that had been generated, once again reiterating her apologies to all those from Extremadura and the rest of those affected. for these delays.

However, he has defended that the measures taken bore fruit and that punctuality is already at 90%, giving a punctuality commitment to return 50% of the ticket if there is a delay of more than 15 minutes and 100% if is more than 30 minutes.

Likewise, during the month of August, in more than half of the days of operation of the line no incident has been detected, so the reduction in travel time of 51 minutes compared to the time prior to the inauguration of this line is being enjoyed in most cases.

The minister explained that the causes of the first incidents were mainly of a technological origin (signaling), with some human error at some point and cable theft, but that they are common failures in the opening of high-speed lines.
