Title: Rare One Ring Card from Magic: The Gathering’s Lord of the Rings Expansion Found

Magic: The Gathering (MTG), the tremendously popular fantasy-themed collectible card game by Wizards of the Coast, has recently introduced an official expansion featuring characters and elements from J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy series, Lord of the Rings. Among the millions of printed cards in the expansion, a one-of-a-kind card depicting the notorious One Ring, the source of all the trouble in Tolkien’s world, was included. Now, this exceptionally rare card has been discovered.

News of The One Ring’s discovery first broke on Twitter, courtesy of the MTG fan account, “Hipsters of the Coast,” who shared a link to the card’s certification, revealing that it has been graded. The card, illustrated by Finnish artist Veli Nyström, received a mint 9-grade ranking from the Professional Sports Authenticator, just narrowly missing the status of being deemed a “virtually perfect card.”

“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them,” the official MTG Twitter account quoted J.R.R. Tolkien in response to the finding of the One Ring card. They expressed their excitement over the discovery and stated, “We are thrilled to hear the tale of a new Ring-bearer in possession of the serialized 1:1 The One Ring! This journey is finished, but the adventure with #MTGxLOTR continues!”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the owner of the One Ring card has chosen to remain anonymous. The card’s discovery comes just two weeks after the Lord of the Rings crossover expansion was released in trading card stores worldwide. Bounties for the card have soared, with Dexerto reporting that Spanish gaming store Gremio de Dregones offered a staggering $2.1 million for it. If the card’s owner chooses to accept this offer, The One Ring will become the most expensive MTG card ever, surpassing the Black Lotus, which has previously sold for over $500,000.

Fans of Magic: The Gathering and Lord of the Rings are eagerly following the journey of this legendary card, curious to see what future adventures it may bring to those fortunate enough to possess it.
