Collector’s Porsche Auction to Feature 56 Sports Cars and Porsche Memorabilia

October 3, 2023 – RM Sotheby’s, a classic and exotic auction specialist, is gearing up for a highly anticipated auction featuring a remarkable collection of Porsches. The collection, assembled by a dedicated U.S.-based collector over the course of a decade, includes 56 sports cars ranging from the iconic 356 to the luxurious 918 Spyder. Additionally, the auction will feature a wide variety of Porsche accessories, posters, and memorabilia items.

What sets this collection apart is not just the exclusive focus on Porsches, but the fact that almost every car is painted white. It’s clear that the collector has a strong preference for uniformity and knows exactly what he wants. The cars, most of which are rare limited-volume models, have been meticulously maintained and have very low mileage.

Unsurprisingly, the Porsche 911 takes center stage in this collection. Representing every decade of the model’s history, the lineup includes a 1965 coupe as the oldest and a 2021 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition as the newest. Enthusiasts can expect to see a range of iconic models such as the ’73 Carrera RS in both Touring and Lightweight versions, an ’89 Speedster, and a rare ’94 Turbo S ‘flat nose’.

The highlight of the auction is the 1993 Carrera RSR 3.8, one of only 51 examples ever produced and one of just two built for road use. With its twin-ignition Le Mans engine, air jacks, and luxurious red leather interior, this exceptional car has only covered 44 miles (70 km) since new and is estimated to sell for $2-2.5 million.

In addition to the impressive array of 911s, the collection also includes a selection of other Porsche models such as the 356, 914, 924, 928, a couple of 944s, and even a pair of Porsche tractors. The star of the show, however, is the 2015 918 Spyder with the optional Weissach pack, which is expected to fetch $2.5-3 million.

For those who may not be in the market for a high-priced sports car, the auction offers a variety of non-car lots. With a total of 556 sale items, collectors and enthusiasts can browse through an assortment of vintage Porsche posters, brochures, bicycles, toolkits, steering wheels, radios, helmets, luggage, and even a Microfiche system covering every Porsche model from the 356 to the Boxster.

The auction will take place on December 1-2, providing ample time for potential buyers to connect with RM Sotheby’s and explore the full auction listing. Whether you dream of owning a cherished Porsche or are simply drawn to Porsche memorabilia, this auction presents a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of automotive history.
