The Theertham Ceremony of the Kannaki Amman Temple was held on the banks of the Mullaitivu River yesterday evening.

With the limited participation of devotees in the Theertham event for the last three years, this time the Theertham ceremony was held in large numbers with a large number of devotees.

Following the worship services held at the Katta Ganesha Temple in Mulliyawalai yesterday evening, the devotees proceeded through the traditional streets surrounded by the traditional way of playing the drums and took theertham in the Mullaitivu Ocean located on the banks of the Tirtha.

There will be a rare display of lighting in the salt water at midnight and the annual Pongal festival of the Varappalai Kannaki Amman Temple will be held on Monday morning with the Madapandam brought from the Katta Ganesha Temple.

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that a large number of army and police personnel were on security duty for the event.
