Sunrisers Hyderabad confused about players to be retained for next season’s IPL. The question for the Sunrisers is whether to retain the first return as Afghan spinner Rashid Khan or New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. The salary difference between the first return and the second return is 4 crore. Therefore, the player who retains the first return will get the highest reward. There are indications that Rashid will leave the team if he is not retained for the first time. If so, that would be a huge setback for the Sunrisers.

Meanwhile, Malayalee player Sanju Samson will remain with the Rajasthan Royals. Sanju’s annual salary is Rs 14 crore. The Rajasthan Royals have decided to retain Sanju, who is also the team captain, as the first player. Apart from Sanju, Rajasthan will retain Jose Butler, Joffre Archer, Liam Livingston and the successful Jaiswal.
The Mumbai Indians are trying to maintain the team core. Mumbai may retain wicketkeeper-batsman Ishant Kishan along with Rohit and Bumra. Mumbai are also considering retaining West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard. They are trying to get Suryakumar Yadav back in the auction.
Captain MS Dhoni will continue in the Chennai Super Kings squad. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and last season’s Orange Cap winner Rituraj Gaekwad may also be retained in the Chennai management squad. Moin Ali and Sam Karan will also be part of the squad.
Retain Prithviraj Shah, Rishabh Pant, Akshar Patel and Antri Norcia in the Delhi Capitals. Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Shreyas Iyer and Kagiso Rabada were not retained. There are indications that Shreyas will be the captain of the Ahmedabad franchise.
