Rashid Khan was not included in Afghanistan’s Test team against New Zealand. It is unimaginable that the team will play such a historic Test without its best star. However, doctors advised Rashid to stay away from the longest format of cricket. Tests can only be played after full recovery from injury.

Afghanistan team media manager Nasir Khan spoke to ESPNcricinfo about Rashid’s absence from the Test team recently. He said that Rashid will not be able to play the Test until he fully recovers from the injury. However, there is no obstacle for him to play in limited overs cricket.

Nasir said, ‘He (Rashid) has taken a break from Test cricket for the time being. He has had an injury problem for a long time. So the doctors have advised him not to play test cricket for the time being.’

How long is this break of Rashid? In response to such a question, Nasir said that he could not know anything about it for sure. He commented, ‘We don’t know if his absence is for a year or not. So far it is confirmed that he will be out for some time, until he fully recovers. I can’t say now how long he is out.’

Rashid is one of the best stars of the team in all three formats. This legspinner did not play Tests after March 2021. So far Rashid has taken 34 wickets in 9 innings of five Tests. He took 5 wickets with the ball four times. Seeing such performance, it is understood that his absence will suffer the Afghan team.

In the recent The Hundred tournament, Trent picked up a hamstring injury while playing for the Rockets. As a result, he could not play in the last two matches. After returning to the country while playing in the Shapagiza league, Rashid was knocked out due to an old back injury.
