Rat Cage Boots is the brainchild of the New York branch of Uncommon Creative Studio, a London-based creative agency known for not shying away from trying anything new. The Rat Cage Boots company has released the latest product to announce the studio’s arrival. Uncommon’s chief creative officer, Sam Shepherd, described their new idea as ‘the worst sketch I’ve ever done in my life. But along with the product was written, ‘Create something that sums up the combination of New York’s glamor and gritty reality’.

“We wanted to imagine the ultimate ‘New York’ boot,” says Shepherd. “One that combines the glamor of New York Fashion Week with the gritty reality of the city.” Thus, fashion is associated with the irrefutability that proclaims the ethos of the city that never sleeps. And so the idea of rat cage boots was born. The boot, which debuted at New York Fashion Week, received both criticism and praise.
