AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam has urged the DMK government to re-appoint Dr. A. Rathinavela as the principal of the Madurai Medical College.
In a statement, he said, “Looking at the reports on the Maharishi Commodity Pledge, it is clear that no clear instructions have been given on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, that no students have been allowed to read this pledge, and that no action has been taken by the government when such an pledge has already been taken in most medical colleges. This shows that the Chief Minister of Madurai Medical College did not knowingly make any mistake.
While the program to pledge medical students in a new way is regrettable, no one can disagree that the failure to provide clear advice in advance on behalf of the state is a major reason for this event.
Therefore, I urge the First Minister to immediately intervene and take action to re-employ Dr. Ratnawela as the Principal of the Medical College and to give appropriate advice on behalf of the Government in the future, considering that it is unjust to punish the Chief of the Medical College who did not err. ”
