Chennai: Rathinavel has been re-appointed as the Principal of Madurai Medical College, said Minister Ma Subramanian.
The adoption of the Sanskrit vow of Maharishi Sarak Sapt instead of the Hippocratic Pledge at the first year students’ white robe ceremony held at the Madurai Government Medical College a few days ago caused controversy. As the matter became a major controversy, the principal of the medical college was transferred to the waiting list.
The first-year students, who were asked to comment on the incident, said the Sanskrit affidavit was taken unknowingly. The Government Medical Association had also demanded that Rathinavelu be re-appointed as the Chief Minister. Opposition Deputy Leader of the Opposition OBS also made the request.
The Director of Medical Education yesterday conducted a direct inquiry into the incident at the Madurai Medical College. Speaking after the hearing, he said the government would decide on the re-appointment of Rathinavelu as chief minister.
