Raül Torras dies after an accident on the Isle of Man

Horrible and hard news that has just been communicated by the organization of the TT of the Isle of Man. Raül Torras has lost his life this Tuesday, June 6 during the course of the first race in the Supertwin category that has been held on the Mountain Course, a test in which Michael Dunlop has added his third victory of the week, the 24th in his record.

According to the official statement sent from the organization, the Spanish pilot suffered an accident in the final stretch of the teston the third lap, having successfully completed his first pit stop and with just a few kilometers to go before reaching the Grandstand and concluding his second race on Tuesday.

“It is with great sadness that the Isle of Man TT Organization can confirm that Raúl Torras Martínez, 46 years old, from Sant Hilari Sacalm, Spain, died in an accident that occurred during the first Supertwin Race during the 2023 TT in the Isle of Man.

The accident took place at Alpine, between mile markers 16 and 17, on the third and final lap of the race. Raül was an experienced TT competitor who made his debut in 2017 and got his best result with fifteenth place from him last year in the Supertwin Race. He posted his fastest lap around the Mountain Course earlier today in the Superstock Race, lapping at an average speed of 125.470mph, clinching 20th place in the final standings.

Raúl has been the fastest Spaniard to date to have completed the TT circuit. In total, Raúl competed in 21 TT races and with his performances he achieved a total of 18 bronze statuettes.

Raül was an incredibly popular member of the paddock family, Raül’s smile was contagious and his love of the TT was evident to anyone lucky enough to meet him. The loss of such a passionate and energetic gentleman will be deeply felt by the entire TT community.

The Isle of Man TT Racing Organization would like to send their deepest condolences to Raul’s family, friends and loved ones.”
