The increase in purchase prices to the population, motivated a greater influx of bronze and copper, crucial for the Artemisa Raw Materials Recovery Company (ERMPA) to exceed planned exports until the first quarter of the year.

According to Eduardo Alfaro Rivero, commercial director of the Artemisa entity, the measure favored increasing sales to the Export-Import Company of Recyclable Materials (DESEQUIP).

Bathroom faucets and connectors, old tubes or large pieces of industry, supported compliance with the export of bronze at 134%; Meanwhile, the recovery of transformers, cables and electric motors led to copper sales at 116%, he added.

“Both items are the ones that have the greatest impact on compliance with the plan in values at 132%, until the end of March.

“We also benefited from the unexpected export of 265 tons of steel, since the José Martí Steel Company (the well-known Antillana) is detained, in the middle of an investment process.”

Alfaro Rivero revealed that most of the metals, including aluminum from radiators and cans, are recovered by the population, except for electronic scrap, which comes from the state sector and of which they exported 76 tons.

During 2023, ERMPA will continue to encourage recycling in the population, in addition to perfecting the work of buying houses and substituting imports, he stressed.
