Ray Stevenson has died unexpectedly at the age of 58. The British actor is best known for the Thor film series. The cause of death is not yet known.
Mourning for Ray Stevenson: The British actor, known among other things from the “Thor” film series, died unexpectedly at the age of 58 on Sunday (May 21), just a few days before his birthday. The has confirmed his spokeswoman “The Hollywood Reporter”.
The cause of death is not yet known. Previously, Italian media had consistently reported that Stevenson was allegedly hospitalized during the production of the film “Cassino on Ischia” on the Italian island.
Ray Stevenson: From Interior Designer to Marvel Actor
Born George Raymond Stevenson on May 25, 1964 in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. His father was an Air Force pilot and his mother was Irish. Ray Stevenson grew up in Newcastle in north east England. After working as an interior designer, he devoted himself to acting studies at the age of 27.
Smaller series and film roles followed, including in “King Arthur”. His breakthrough came with the leading role of Titus Pullo in the TV series “Rome”. In 2008, Stevenson starred in the Marvel Comics adaptation Punisher: War Zone.
He recently gained notoriety through the “Thor” film series, in which he played the role of Volstagg in 2011, 2013 and 2017. Most recently, Stevenson starred in the popular series Vikings, Das Boot, and Star Wars: Ahsoka, as well as the movie RRR (2022).
