The biggest transfer of the summer so far: Kylian Mbappé has left Paris Saint-Germain and is now playing for Champions League winners Real Madrid. But it is not the only top transfer of the summer.

RB Leipzig has apparently found what it was looking for in Spain in its search for a reinforcement for its central midfield. As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and TV broadcaster Sky report, the Saxons are about to sign Belgian Arthur Vermeeren from Atlético Madrid. The 19-year-old is said to have decided on Leipzig despite other options.
It is unclear whether the defensive midfielder will come to Leipzig permanently or on loan. Originally, a loan was favored, but according to Spanish reports, Atlético would not mind selling the European Championship participant.
Leipzig is forced to take action due to the long-term absence of Xaver Schlager. The Austrian is suffering from a cruciate ligament tear and will not be able to play again until December at the earliest. After the 1-0 win in the Bundesliga opener against Bochum, sporting director Rouven Schröder said that a new signing would have to be young and able to help in the short and medium term.
Bayer Leverkusen still has a well-filled squad after the successful 2023/24 season. The champions are therefore said to be ready to sell Odilon Kossounou. As the TV broadcaster Sky reports, Leverkusen are demanding around 30 million euros for the central defender. Kossounou’s contract with the Werkself runs until 2026.
The 23-year-old professional moved from Club Bruges to Leverkusen in the summer of 2021. The Bundesliga club paid a transfer fee of 23 million euros. Kossounou has since played 102 games for Leverkusen. According to the report, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City are interested in him.
Striker Haris Tabaković is moving from second division club Hertha BSC to Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim. Both clubs announced this on Friday evening, but no information was given about the duration of the 30-year-old’s new contract.
The transfer had been on the cards. Several media outlets reported on Thursday that an agreement had been reached between the Berlin club and Hoffenheim. Hertha coach Cristian Fiél confirmed at the press conference before the match against Regensburg on Saturday that the top scorer of the last second division season did not take part in the morning training.
Even though the 30-year-old has not scored a goal this season, his departure is a serious sporting loss for Hertha. “These are all players who still want to achieve something. Who perhaps have other ideas. That’s just how it is in football,” said Fiél. His alternatives in the squad are Luca Schuler, Florian Niederlechner and Smail Prevljak. He is not worried, said Fiél. All three have proven that they can score goals.
Shortly before the start of the new Bundesliga season, VfB Stuttgart has signed another striker. The Swabians have signed El Bilal Touré from Italian Europa League winners Atalanta Bergamo.
