Reserve Bank Governor Sakthikantha Das has said that bank representatives who go to collect loans from non-performing customers should not be underestimated or intimidated.
Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikant Das told reporters in Mumbai yesterday:
Bank representatives cannot tolerate harassment and harassment by honest customers who are unable to repay their loans at the bank. Frequent harassment of customers on the phone, trying to collect substandard debts, extortion etc. is not acceptable under any circumstances.
Banks have the right to collect loans. But, do not harass anyone for this.Banks are required to collect the loan following proper guidelines.
The Reserve Bank will soon issue guidelines to strengthen digital lending and make it safer. When it comes to digital lending, we are very concerned about frauds. People should also be aware of this. From time to time the Reserve Bank also issues guidelines in this regard.
The crisis of inflation is not only in India but also in the world. Inflation is particularly high in the United States and Europe. No one has the power to stop this inflation immediately. The current high inflation should be tolerated.
The Reserve Bank continues to take steps to control inflation. With inflation soaring, the Reserve Bank is not without any action. Not without taking action to control. We take the necessary action when needed.
Thus said the powerful Das
