Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis has done wonders after the seven-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Du Plessis said after the match that the pitch had become better for batting in the second innings. Chasing RCB’s target of 183 runs, Knight Riders scored 186 runs for three wickets with 19 balls remaining due to the stormy innings of Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine. Made an easy victory. Narayan and Phil Salt gave the team a flying start by adding 86 runs in 6.3 overs for the first wicket, while Venkatesh along with captain Shreyas Iyer eased the way to victory by adding 75 runs for the third wicket.
Du Plessis said after the match, ‘In the first innings, some balls were coming intermittently but while chasing the target, the pitch got better. It was not easy to bat in the first innings and you can see that Virat Kohli also had to struggle a bit. Du Plessis admitted that it was very difficult to make a comeback after the partnership between Narayan and Salt.
Kohli’s innings did not work for RCB
He said, ‘We could have tried one or two things but the way Salt and Narayan batted, they took the match away from us to a great extent. They were brilliant and took the game out of our reach in the first six overs.
Earlier, RCB scored 182 runs for six wickets thanks to Kohli’s unbeaten inning of 83 runs in 59 balls with four sixes and four fours. Kohli also made a partnership of 65 runs for the second wicket with Cameron Green (33) and 42 runs for the third wicket with Glenn Maxwell (28). Dinesh Karthik finally scored 20 runs in eight balls with the help of three sixes.
