Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first. Accordingly, the Kolkata Knight Riders batted first.

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kolkata by 129 runs. Anuj Rawat, who made his debut for Bangalore, was dismissed for zero. Captain Fop du Plessis, another starter who pitched with him, was out for 5 runs. They were followed by Virat Kohli who was bowled out for 12 by Umesh Yadav.
