Stocks, Bitcoin, home ownership? In the WELT reader chat, experts from the Federal Association of German Banks will answer your questions free of charge today from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Regardless of whether it is assets or real estate – you can go to the hotline and chat here.

In recent weeks, equity securities, particularly in growth sectors, have benefited from a sustained price recovery. The reason was the market fantasy that the phase of sharp tightening of international monetary policy in the fight against inflation could be coming to an end, also because inflation is falling noticeably. If money becomes cheaper again, this will particularly benefit companies that finance their development with debt. The market then prices the expectation of favorable conditions into the prices.

But what happens next? Anyone who got involved in the phase of stock market euphoria up to 2021 will often still be significantly in the red with their investments. Should you still buy again and get a cheaper entry-level price? Or accept the loss and invest the remaining capital in more promising stocks?

So your question could be for the Leserchat look, which WELT is offering in cooperation with the Federal Association of German Banks this Sunday between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. The campaign has a long tradition: For several decades, experts selected by the banking association and employed by member institutions have been answering readers’ questions for two and a half hours. They are available to answer questions both on the phone and in the chat area.

The development of interest rates also has a major impact on the real estate sector. The turbulence that the Austrian investor René Benko got into with his empire is representative of the dilemma of an entire industry that has been spoiled for years by zero or low interest rates and has failed to take precautions for the time afterwards.

Bitcoin has also been one of the market winners in recent months. The cryptocurrency is still a long way from its all-time high, but anyone who got involved a good year ago can already look forward to doubling their capital. Can a savings plan help to cushion the high volatility of Bitcoin and make the asset a mainstay of your own portfolio?

Gold has also performed well again recently, although not nearly as spectacularly as Bitcoin. The geopolitical uncertainties and the renewed interest of institutional investors drove the precious metal to a new high, especially in the weakening euro currency.

Is gold – or silver – a sensible building block for your own portfolio? What risks does the asset class have? Is it better to buy physically to keep the gold within your reach, or is it better to rely on “paper gold” that can be delivered to you when needed?

The best reader questions will be published in the next issue of WELT AM SONNTAG.
