Letters, postcards, tickets. By post, email or WhatsApp messages: it’s the time of year when we write and write to each other the most. To Santa Claus, of course, to ask the children for gifts and wishes to be fulfilled; to friends and family to wish each other the best for the year to come. In our «Reading of girls and boys», published on Sunday 3 December with the «Corriere della Sera» and in the App of the insert and from Wednesday 6 and for a month on newsstands alone for 2.50 euros, you can find everything: the history, the invention, the mystery and the fun of Christmas-related correspondence.
We begin with a bit of history of correspondence, from its origins to the present day: told by Angelo Mozzillo and Davide Panizza, a proven couple of Detective Linus, capable of crossing space and time, informing and making you smile. The «Letturina» takes the reader to Rovaniemi, to Santa Claus’ headquarters; at the Tolkien house (where the author of the Lord of the Rings wrote to his children); in the Bari prison where the inmates sent letters to their own children. There are postcard factories (one of the few remaining) and those who collect them, a collection of letters that have changed history, literature, art and cinema. And finally a series of stories in which we write about love, fear, the future, enigmas that only the best can solve.
