The legal adviser to the government submitted today (Monday) to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court a request for an order to prevent threatening harassment against Likud activist Rami Ben Yehuda in relation to the main plaintiff in the Netanyahu trial, Liat Ben Ari, and her family members.

The court ordered that until a different decision is made, Ben Yehuda will be prohibited from contacting Ben-Ari and her family members, by himself or through others on his behalf, directly and indirectly, and from harassing them in any way.

In the request, the court is requested to order Ben Yehuda to refrain from publishing on social media and on the Facebook account called “Haymin with Benjamin”, which according to the prosecutor’s office is apparently operated by him, any publication concerning the son of Advocate Ben-Ari and to remove any such publication, and in addition to order him to stay away from Ben – Ari and her family members.

The Legal Adviser to the Government states in the application that in recent years the need for the law enforcement agencies in the country to deal with the various aspects of “the phenomenon of harming public servants, the clear purpose of which is to loosen the hands of public servants, threaten them and discourage them from fulfilling their public duties” has been increasing.

The Ministry of Justice stated that “the filing of the request is intended to act as a buffer against any attempt to terrorize, sow fear and prevent public servants from fulfilling their duties faithfully, for the sake of the public and for its benefit, and of course to protect public servants from suffering harassment, intimidation, etc.”

“The Legal Adviser to the Government and the State Attorney will act in the appropriate cases by all means that the law allows in order to eradicate harm to public servants who work in the public interest.”

According to the request, Ben Yehuda published a video on the “Haymin with Binyamin” Facebook page concerning Ben-Ari and her family members, “in which he expresses himself in a violent, blunt, threatening tone, while addressing things directly to Ben-Ari and her son. All with the aim of disturbing the the rest of Ben-Ari and his son, to terrorize them and harm their peace of mind.”

In the application submitted to the court, it was stated that “Ben Yehuda often attacks verbally, and that in the past complaints have been filed against him and even justification has been found in the past to issue an order against him to prevent threatening harassment and under the circumstances there is a real and tangible fear of physical harm.”
