Speaking at the event, Xi Jinping said, “True democracy for Hong Kong began only after the reunification with China. Hong Kong will always be on my mind. The people of Hong Kong became leaders after Hong Kong annexed their homeland. Some people painfully understand that Hong Kong cannot be let down even after so much chaos. I aim for the development of Hong Kong. Hong Kong has survived many challenges. ”
It is noteworthy that Xi Jinping has traveled to Hong Kong after 5 years. Heavy security arrangements have been made in Hong Kong due to his trip.
Hong Kong is controlled by China. However, Hong Kong remains autonomous. In this context, the Hong Kong administration has decided to amend the Prisoner Transfer Act to allow those involved in criminal cases in Hong Kong to be deported to China to face trial. Millions of Hong Kong people have been protesting for months over the legislation being brought in by China’s crisis.
China deployed troops in Hong Kong to suppress the struggle. This was followed by a series of protests calling for an end to Chinese interference in Hong Kong politics. It is noteworthy that thousands of them were arrested.
