Real Madrid has decided on the position of Dani Carvajal, the team’s left-back, regarding renewing his contract, which expires next summer.
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, Real Madrid’s management decided to give Carvajal the right to choose his fate during the current season.
She pointed out that Real Madrid has developed a strategy that anyone over 30 years old who is still able to perform on the field will have the right to choose to continue or leave the club after the end of the contract.
She explained that Real Madrid’s management implemented this during the past season with Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Nacho Fernandez and Lucas Vazquez, but only two agreed to stay and their contracts were actually renewed.
She stated that Carvajal’s continuation has the support of coach Carlo Ancelotti, who considers him an indispensable pillar of the team, in addition to the board of directors, who see him as the next leader of the team after the end of the Modric era.
She revealed that on the sporting level, Carvajal will be among the group of players who will get more rest periods than usual this long season that will include 72 matches.
