Two more playoff games were held tonight (Tuesday) in the Euroleague. Real Madrid defeated Kazan and cut off its momentum in a preparatory game from the 19th round. In a game from the 18th round, Bayern Munich achieved an away victory in France over Willerbourg.
Real Madrid – Kazan 68:85
After two consecutive Euroleague victories, including a particularly impressive one over Barcelona, Kazan had hoped to continue their great momentum, but snatched a slap in the face in Madrid. The Blancos who came after the loss in the Clasico in the league started well, absorbing only 14 points in the first quarter and finished the first half with a 31:47 advantage. In the third quarter Pablo Lasso’s team continued galloping and actually closed out an interest. The Russians saved some of their dignity in the last quarter, when the gap at the peak was 31 points (38:69). Eddie Tavares was above them all with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Gershon Yavosla added 13.
Wheelerban – Bayern Munich 77:68
After the home loss to Monaco, the Bavarians returned to the Euroleague winning track with a win over the second French show. Bayern led from the opening and controlled what was happening on the parquet. Agustin Robit led the scoring with 17 points to which he added 10 rebounds. Chris Jones and Mastafa Pal (14 each) tried to keep the host in matters, but Andrea Trinkieri’s side were better and came away with a justified away win, improving their position when it comes to fighting for a place in the top eight at the end of the regular season.
