Spanish media revealed, on Wednesday, that Real Madrid is planning to conclude a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, “Real Madrid is monitoring the Spanish international Fabian Ruiz, the star midfielder of Paris Saint-Germain, with the aim of strengthening its midfield.”
The newspaper pointed out that “with Toni Kroos’ retirement at the end of last season, Real Madrid’s midfield is in need of reinforcement, especially with the injury of the trio Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni, and the team also lacked the creative touch in midfield.”
The newspaper added, “Real Madrid found it difficult to replace the elegant and versatile midfielder, who they need to control the ball, distribute play and maintain possession.”
The newspaper explained that “only the duo Luka Modric and Arda Guler have the ability to play Kroos’ role, but the former is very old (39 years old), while the latter lacks experience (19 years old).”
Both players also tend to play more offensive roles than defensive ones, and as a result, Real Madrid have started looking into the market and have put Manchester City’s Rodri and Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha on the table, before his teammate Fabian Ruiz emerged after his brilliance at Euro 2024.
Real Madrid showed interest in the player on more than one occasion when he was in Napoli, without serious negotiations with his club before he moved to Saint-Germain.
