jpnn.comJAKARTA – Special Staff to the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Antonius Benny Susetyo asked the Police to continue to improve civility.

According to him, civility is not just to build a positive image, but the police can realize the values of Pancasila as aspired to by Bung Karno.

“With the various challenges in the digital era and advances in information technology, it is necessary to reflect on a more humanistic role for the police in dealing with non-conventional crimes such as the Vina case in Cirebon and other cases of violence,” said Benny in his statement, Sunday (14/7).

He said that the Indonesian National Police must be built not only to maintain security, but also to protect and serve the Indonesian people with a persuasive approach.

Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2002 concerning the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia, signed by Megawati Soekarnoputri on February 8, 2002, became an important foundation for the independence of the National Police.

The law emphasizes that the Police are separate from the ABRI, which provides an opportunity for the Police to be more professional in carrying out their duties as maintainers of public security and order, law enforcers, protectors and servants of the community.

“The separation provides an opportunity for the Police to develop a new paradigm in the approach to maintaining public order, in accordance with the mandate of the law,” he said.

Megawati’s efforts to separate the TNI and Polri must be the basis for building police civility.

Special Staff to the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency, Antonius Benny Susetyo, asked the Police to continue to improve civility.
