Brasilia – Supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro ignited riots in Brazil. Parliament and the Supreme Court were attacked. President Lula da Silva’s palace was also attacked. Thousands of far-right supporters took to the streets wearing green and yellow, the colors of the Brazilian flag.

They launched a massive attack on the Parliament building and the Supreme Court. An attempt was also made to break into the President’s palace. The army was deployed to control the attackers. It is reported that there were irregularities in the election and the protestors are demanding that it be re-examined.

President Lulu D’Silva responded by calling it a “fascist attack” in the country. He also stated that strict action will be taken against the attackers. Left-wing leader Lula took office as the new president of Brazil on January 1. This is the second term for Lula, who was president from 2003-10.

Former President Jair Bolsonaro refused to accept defeat and left the country. Lula received 50.9% of the vote, while Bolsonaro won 49.1%. Bolsonaro was accompanied in the first phase of the two-phase election. Lula won a majority of 20 lakh votes.
