Chennai, Tamil Nadu – Widespread rainfall has been reported in Tamil Nadu’s capital, Chennai, and its suburbs. The Chennai Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today, attributed to the prevailing low atmospheric circulation over the region.

Chennai and its suburbs are expected to experience partly cloudy skies, with the likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Similar weather conditions were observed yesterday, resulting in recorded rainfall across the city.

Several areas including Guindy, Eakatuthangal, Ashok Nagar, Kodambakkam, Ampathur, Porur, Aavadi, Poovindavalli, Sembarambakkam, and Kelambakkam witnessed significant rainfall. Unfortunately, power cuts were reported in some locations due to the inclement weather.

The Chennai Meteorological Department issued a report at 11.30 pm on Sunday, warning residents of the possibility of thunder and lightning at certain places. People are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather forecasts to ensure their safety during thunderstorms.

As heavy downpour and thunderstorms persist in the region, the Meteorological Department urges residents to remain vigilant and follow any precautionary measures issued by local authorities.
