The collection centers are located in different parts of Guatemala City, Villa Nueva, Mixco, Carretera a El Salvador, San Juan Sacatepéquez, and there are also recycling centers in the departments of Sacatepéquez, Escuintla and Santa Rosa. Guide to recycling waste at home

Cardboard and paper

• Materials that can be recycled: Newspapers, magazines, brochures, sheets of paper, notebooks, books, cardboard boxes, paper wrappers (without wax or plastic), envelopes (without plastic windows) and any other type of paper and cardboard.
• Pull apart: Separate recyclable paper from non-recyclable paper, such as wax paper, toilet paper and soiled napkins. Empty and disassemble boxes, removing any adhesive tape or plastic labels.
• Clean: Make sure paper and cardboard is clean and dry. It should not have food residue on it or be wet. Cardboard stained with grease or oil, such as pizza boxes, should not be recycled.
• Deposit: Place the cardboard in the container you have designated for this material.

• Cleaning: Empty the contents of the container and rinse with water to remove any food or drink residue.
• Disarm: Crush the container to reduce its volume.
• Deposit: Place it in the container intended for this type of material.

Beverage cans and other metal containers

• Materials that can be recycled: Beverage and food cans, empty metal aerosol containers and aluminium trays.
