In a day of cycling, the Slovenian rider Primoz Roglic of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe, crowns Alto de Moncalvillo alone and is the new leader of the Vuelta a España.

Little by little the ground in the Vuelta is coming out, only 3 stages are left to meet the champion of La Vuelta 2024. The nineteenth part sees the departure in Logroño and goes to Alto de Moncalvillo, a total of 173, 5 kilometers and final in the first prize category.

The division of the day was 5 riders: Isaac Del Toro, Edward Planckaert, Fran Miholjevic, Vito Braet and Simone Petilli. Argentine Eduardo Sepúlveda tried to connect with the lead but it was impossible.

These runners left for several stages, they achieved a little more than 5 minutes of difference with the leading team, but they came with the will to fight for the fraction and in the last part they won them.

Vito Braet was the first to surrender, with 48 kilometers to go he could not keep up with the leader and was at the mercy of a team that had already lined up to explain everything at the end. Planckaert took the scoring sprint before the start of the Alto de Moncalvillo before dropping his weapons to the favourites.

Miholjevic attacked at the beginning of the last station, Del Toro and Petilli could not respond to that attack. However, Miholjevic could do little, as the team received him 3 kilometers later, with 8 to go before the penalty line.

Gaudu tried to go alone, he left the group a little, however, the Red Bull – BORA effort was strong, they managed all day and left Primoz Roglic on the verge of attack. After seeing Gaudu in front, Slovenia left the first team, took Gaudu and left him.

Carapaz attacked and tried to reach Roglic without success as the Red Bull rider was alone at the top. Ben O’Connor was the victim and had already shown red for Slovenia. Mas also picked up the pace and was second behind Roglic in the final kilometers.

Primoz Roglic of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe only reached the Alto de Moncalvillo crown and also won the red jersey. David Gaudu from Groupama – FDJ crossed in second place, while Mattias Skjelmose from Lidl – Trek took third place. Roglic became the new leader of the Iberian round with two days left.
