Two weeks after Tsanko Tsankov’s historic swim of 120 kilometers non-stop in the Danube River, this morning the achievement was officially ratified by the authoritative Association of World Records (OWR).
The organization sent Tsankov a certificate of authenticity and congratulations on his success on September 19. It says that the swimming was according to the rules in open water, with a standard swimsuit – textile (to the knees), goggles and a swimming cap.
As is known, the Bulgarian open water competitor had to swim twice over 100 kilometers in the Danube within 12 days to set an official achievement to be approved by a real record institution.
“I am extremely happy and proud of the certificate from OWR that has arrived. I know what I went through and how difficult it was psychologically. I always swam by the rules and never did anything wrong. I wanted and made the record for Bulgaria. All the effort was worth it. Despite the organized smear campaign against me since the first swim in the Danube, I have proven that truth and goodness will always come to the fore and defeat malice and hatred. This document that I received from OWR is of very high value and I am grateful to all Bulgarians for their incredible support. I will continue on the drawn path and nothing can stop me from representing Bulgaria anywhere in the world in the open waters,” said Tsanko Tsankov excitedly.
The Official Association of World Records (OWR) is a legally registered organization based in the European Union and has the legal basis to operate worldwide.
OWR is the only organization for registering world records recognized by the Council of Notaries of the European Union (Notaries of Europe) and endorsed by official notarial colleges worldwide.
