Recommendation for a 7950x-based gaming/streaming specification without a graphics card – advice before purchasing a computer

by time news

1. What is the maximum budget? Is an exception possible if necessary?

From what I’ve been impressed, there’s no reason to go over 8000-9000 (without a video card), but flexible if I’m convinced.

2. What are the uses of the computer (games, graphic editing, office work, HD content for example), is there a specific example of a game or software?

Games, without a “heaviness” limit (for example, Cyberpunk, etc.).

In addition I do streaming, play on a 165Hz screen with VRR but intend to play on 120fps mainly. Right now I want to use the x264 encoder on the medium preset.

3. Is the peripheral equipment necessary in addition to the computer (for example: keyboard, mouse, speakers and screen)?

There is no need.

4. Is there a basic component that does not need to be included in the specification? (For a Dodge SSD drive that already exists and can be attached to the assembly)

There is no need for a video card, I want to use the GTX 1060 that I have for the time being until the situation with the video cards coming to us becomes clear.

5. How important is quiet computer operation?

not very

6. Is there a limitation or preference for the physical size of the computer and its weight, lights, etc.?

Unless it’s really tiny, it probably won’t sit on my desk, so it’ll be on the floor – which means any visual aspect isn’t very interesting.

7. Is it necessary to include an operating system/office (if so it is advisable to specify a preferred version) and/or to assemble a computer in the store?

I do not think so. I will start with a free version of Windows 10 and upgrade as needed later.

8. Is there a preference to purchase the computer from a specific store? If not, you can also specify a residential area.

I live in Tel Aviv and have no first-hand experience with any store, so I’m open to recommendations.

9. When is the planned purchase of the computer (it is highly desirable to ask for a specific date shortly after the purchase)?

I waited two years, it’s time to buy

10. Are there any special requests regarding ports and connections (eg USB Type-C or FireWire) or overclocking?

No.

11. Is there any existing peripheral equipment that will be connected? If so, which one? (docking station if laptops / one screen or another)

I use an ASUS VG27AQ monitor. It’s GSync-Compatible and supports up to 165Hz, realistically I’ll play between 120-150, but that shouldn’t be a consideration right now.

12. Additional comments, extended detail and variations:

I waited two years and the time to buy has finally arrived. AMD has reached DDR5 and a new socket, and you can finally buy without feeling like you’re buying hardware with no immediate future.

In addition to gaming, I do quite a bit of streaming, and I want to use CPU encoding for that – which means you need an excellent processor. I am ready to invest in 7950x.

There is no need for a video card at the moment, I want to use the GTX 1060 I have for the time being until the situation with the video cards that come with it becomes clear.

Regarding the power supply – it seems that ATX 3.0 power supplies are starting to come out, and it sounds like they will play an important role with new graphics cards, so I would be interested in one as well. I haven’t been able to find such a supplier in Israel yet (I think 1000W will be enough).

In terms of a motherboard, connections or WiFi are not very important, I mainly want the board to be able to keep up with the processor in terms of durability and power delivery stability. PCIe 5.0 is also not very critical for me, but would be nice. From what I understand, we are not very close to the PCIe 4.0 restoration, and in terms of the SSD it is not a concern either. If it is limited to 4.0 I will definitely survive.

Regarding the case – I don’t have a lot of knowledge on the subject, I just saw recommendations on the Internet about Be quiet! Silent Base 802 and it really looks nice, but open. In any case, I want ATX, a bit afraid of form factors that are too small at the moment, especially considering the sizes of GPUs today.

In terms of memory – I want 32GB DDR 5 at a speed of 5600Mhz-6000Mhz. I’m not familiar with timing differences, open to recommendations. Sounds like you don’t need too much to riot beyond that.

In terms of SSD – I will settle for a single M.2 one with a storage space of 1TB for the time being.

Thanks!
