Necessary measures have been recommended to create overall safety and working environment for Bangladeshi workers stationed in Middle East countries. This recommendation was made in the second meeting of the ‘Standing Committee on Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry’ of the 12th National Parliament.

It was held at Sangsad Bhavan on Tuesday (July 2) under the chairmanship of Committee President Imran Ahmed.

The members of the committee are Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury, Minister of State for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry, Muhibur Rahman Manik, Abdul Motaleb, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Nizam Uddin Hazari, Md. Mazharul Islam, Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Md. Sirajul Islam Mollah and Shammi Ahmed participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, a report was presented about the recent problems and the latest situation of the labor market in Malaysia, a report on the overall safety and working environment of Bangladeshi workers stationed in the Middle East countries, a report on the progress of the construction project of 50 technical training centers in 50 upazilas under the ministry was presented and discussed in detail.

The committee recommended to the Ministry to resolve the issue quickly by taking action as per the report of the committee formed to investigate the reasons for the failure to send Bangladeshi workers who are willing to go to Malaysia.

In the meeting, it was recommended to the ministry to complete the construction of 50 technical training centers in 50 upazilas under the ministry by giving priority to land acquisition and start training.

Secretary of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry, Director General of Manpower Employment and Training Bureau, heads of various departments and agencies and relevant officials of the Ministry and National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
