Yeshiva Rabbis Recommend Vacation Routes for Students

The students of the Hesder Yeshiva are gearing up for their well-deserved vacation after a challenging academic year. To assist them in planning their trips, the Mount Etzion yeshiva’s rabbis took to Facebook to share their favorite routes and destinations.

Among the rabbis who offered their recommendations was the head of the Yeshiva, Rabbi Ya’akov Madan. He suggested visiting the Hariton Cave, Saratava Mountain, and even embarking on a bicycle trip following the footsteps of the independence fighters.

However, Rabbi Madan didn’t only focus on the routes themselves but also highlighted the importance of adequate preparation. For example, when suggesting the route to Mount Sartaba, he advised students to read Josephus Flavius’ writings and travel books beforehand. He also recommended visiting the observation deck near a military base on the way back, which overlooks the Tirzah stream. From there, one can envision the ancient Israelites’ theoretical route as they crossed the Jordan to the mountain Greases.

Other rabbis at the yeshiva also shared their recommendations for students who might not be up for more challenging adventures. Rosh Yeshiva Father Lichtenstein and Rabbi Michael Adrei encouraged the students to explore different places during their vacation. Rabbi Finney Cohen suggested visiting “Mitzpe Ami” in the north, a slightly less physically demanding location. Rabbi Uriah Dor offered two different routes – one for the more adventurous students and another for those who prefer a more relaxed trip. He recommended walking from Ein Perat to Ein Maboa for the more active individuals, and for those seeking a peaceful break, he suggested the “Ein Afek” nature reserve in Kiryat.

As the students gear up for their vacations, these suggestions from the respected rabbis of the Mount Etzion yeshiva are sure to provide them with exciting and meaningful experiences during their time off.
