La Campanera will be able to rebuild its communal house thanks to a special law approved by the Legislative Assembly and that allows a loan between the Social Housing Fund (FSV) and the mayor’s office of Soyapango, so that the latter manages the property for 99 years.
The works will be carried out on seven lots where the community house is installed and which have a value of $24,000. The property will become the epicenter of cultural, social, sports activities and all types of actions that contribute to the prevention of violence.
With the approval of the Exception Regime by the Legislative Assembly, the Government of President Nayib Bukele was able to implement the rescue of the communities and free them from the scourge of gangs.
The longhouse, which will be rebuilt with funds from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), is on land that has dismantled houses and a vacant lot. The initiative is an example of the reconstruction of Salvadoran communities and the fight against the violence that plagued them.
In addition to now being an integration center, since it can be shared by neighboring neighborhoods, the area recovers the added value that was lost with the takeover of the gangs.
