The Spanish Civil Guard has stopped the activities of an international criminal group that was importing large quantities of cocaine through the port of Barcelona and other European ports. This was stated in a press release from the kingdom’s law enforcement agencies, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
According to them, the police launched an investigation in 2023 into a Spanish company that was transporting containers of rice from Paraguay to the capital. During one of the checks, the Civil Guard found more than 4 tons of cocaine hidden among sacks of rice. This is the largest batch of this drug seized to date in the port of Barcelona.
It is noted that 10 members of the group were detained during the operation. As part of the investigation, Paraguayan police also intercepted about 3.3 tons of cocaine. In addition, in March, police in the UK seized 2.1 tons of drugs.
