Record-breaking Botticelli: sold for 92 million dollars at Sotheby’s auction in New York

On Thursday, at a Sotheby’s auction in New York, Botticelli’s portrait of “Young man holding a medal” was purchased for the hyperbolic sum of 92,184,000 dollars. The painting was made around 1480 in Florence. In that vibrant and tormented phase of the early Renaissance associated with Lorenzo de ‘Medici known as the Magnificent.
