The young Barcelonan made history for the Spanish team this Friday, against Georgia.

At just 16 years old, FC Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal on Friday became the youngest player to make his debut for Spain during the Euro-2024 qualifying match against Georgia in Tbilisi. Yamal came on in the 44th minute in place of RB Leipzig striker Dani Olmo, with Spain leading 4-0 in the Georgian capital.

The young Barça winger, aged 16 years and 57 days, has surpassed the record set by his club and national teammate Gavi, at 17 years and 62 days. Sensation at the start of the season in La Liga, Lamine Yamal continues to break records for precocity: he had already become the youngest Barça player to start in La Liga at 15 years and 9 months and also the youngest to start, against Cadiz in August.
