Karachi: National emergency has been declared in Pakistan. A state of emergency has been declared as the death toll has increased due to floods in the country.

There, 937 people, including 343 children, have died in the country due to floods from June 14 till yesterday. Sindh has the highest number of deaths at 306. About 30 million people are homeless. As a result, the government of Pakistan has declared a national emergency. Balochistan reported 234 deaths, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab reported 185 and 165 deaths respectively.

As many as 37 people have died in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. According to the National Disaster Management Authority of the country, 166.8 mm of rain has fallen in this month of August alone. This is 241% more than the previous years. This surge created flash floods in the southern part of Pakistan. 23 districts of Sindh have been declared “disaster affected”.

Although the government has stepped up rescue operations, incessant rainfall has made relief efforts difficult. The weather conditions are too bad for helicopters.
