Thiruvananthapuram: Record liquor sales in the state for Christmas. On the eve of Christmas, the Beverages Corporation sold liquor worth Rs 65.88 crore in a single day. Last year it was Rs 55 crore. The Thiruvananthapuram Power House outlet had the highest sales. Liquor worth Rs 73 lakh was sold here alone.
The total liquor sales in Kerala on Christmas day was `73 crore. This is in addition to the number of liquor sold through consumer food outlets in addition to Bevco. On Christmas day, liquor was sold for Rs 65 crore through Bevco outlets and Rs 8 crore through Consumer Fed outlets. Liquor worth Rs 11.5 crore was sold through Consumerfed on Christmas Eve. In addition, liquor worth Rs 150.38 crore was consumed for Christmas.
On Christmas day, Bevco sold the most liquor at the Thiruvananthapuram Power House outlet for Rs 73.54 lakh. Chalakudy is second with Rs 70.70 lakh worth of liquor. Irinjalakuda outlet with liquor worth Rs 60 lakh is in the third position. Last time too, these outlets were ahead.
Bevco sold liquor worth Rs 55 crore last Christmas. In front of Kodungallur, where sales of Rs 54 lakh were made at consumer fed outlets. A sale of Rs 53 lakh was made at the Kochi Banerjee Road outlet. In the four days leading up to Christmas, liquor worth Rs 215 crore was sold through Bevco outlets.
