Record year for the Rome Opera Theater with 250 thousand tickets sold

Time.news – The Rome Opera concludes 2023 with exceptional public success: there have been more than 250 mila people who attended the Capitolina Foundation’s shows at its locations with a paid ticket. He communicates it anyway Costanzi Theatre in a note.

The number of spectators increased from 218,489 in 2022 to 250,216 in 2023, an increase of 14.5%. The total also includes the audience of the Caracalla Festival which, with 115,980 tickets sold, recorded the highest number of attendances since 2001 and marked a full recovery compared to the last year before the pandemic (106,692 attendances in 2019).

To the numbers of Caracalla and Costanzi are then added to the 40 thousand spectators of the tours carried out by the Theater during the year: Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and at the Kanagawa Kenmin Hall in Yokohama (Tosca directed by Franco Zeffirelli and La traviata by Sofia Coppola, both directed by Michele Mariotti, which alone recorded 14,259 admissions), at the Palais des Congrès in Paris (The Four Seasons by Giuliano Peparini to music by Vivaldi), at the Royal Opera House of Muscat in Oman (with Giselle in Carla Fracci’s version) and at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna with the Contemporary Choreographers Evening.

Also significant was the participation shown by the public for the 80 free entry initiatives aimed at the city community, which recorded an attendance of over 30 thousand spectators. Many projects social inclusion and the opening of the Theater to the territory which involved all 15 municipalities of the Capital, some important centers of the metropolitan city and the network of widespread associations.

Shows were witnessed from the Villa Torlonia Theater to the squares of Tor Bella Monaca, passing through the Lungotevere, the Capitoline Museums (Museum Night) and Fiumicino Airport. Many of these saw the participation of the School of Choral Singing and “Fabbrica”, the Young Artist Program of the Rome Opera.

The Nutcracker is the second biggest success with the public after La traviata staged in Caracalla in July (20,330 tickets sold). The celebrations continue Monday 1 January 2024 on the occasion of the third edition of Rome Capodarte 2024the free program of cultural events distributed throughout the city promoted by the Department of Culture and the Cultural Activities Department of Rome Capital.

From 3.30pm to 7.30pm in the square in front of the theater in Piazza Beniamino Gigli a series of free concerts will take place with the participation of Riciclato Circomusicale, Little Pier, The Ukulele Tree Orchestra, FanfaRoma and EtnoMusa.

From 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm, however, the stalls of the Costanzi Theater are accessible to the public by reservation for a special meeting experience, thanks to the collaboration with Binario 95 and the monthly “L’ Osservatore di Strada”, two reception and support communities for people homeless, who will share with those present stories and reflections on the Theater and their own experiences.
